family matters is on nick at night. i feel officially like old balls.
what else makes me feel old is how young these froshies look.
i look at them and all i cn do is picture that huge ball pit int he chuckee cheeses and them playing in it.
what bugs me is this. the freshman classes keep getting less and less of the university of dayton experience. the class this year will not know what lowes fest is. and in a few years, lowes will be a legend just like st. pattys day and homecoming is to all of us.
personally, my freshman year...lowes fest WAS college and still is my definition of college to this day. I had never seen anything crazier and more fun until that weekend. I downed my first bottle of Soco in a day, and drank lots of beer on top of that. It was one of the most memorable weekends of my life..
and now, these kids don't get that.
And for that, I feel sorry for them.
Now, as to why I do not feel sorry for them.
The attitude.
It needs to calm the F down.
This past weekend I heard of a story where a guy, James, was hving a party at his house. James was on his front porch when a kid walked up, pushed him out of the way and was like "i live here...MOVE."
James respponded with "look freshman, that doesn't work here..this is my house, go away."
Upon hearing this, the frosh tried to start a fight. That didnt happen. So after he was kicked out by the guys who actually do live in the house, he decided to come back an hour later, walk right in and try to steal beer. he was then kicked out again and tried to start a fight again.
Lookie here frosh,
you can not walk into a house, and demand beer. This is our money out of our pockets thats getting you drunk. This is tradition, when we were frosh...people were nice to us and nicely gave us beer. we didnt demand it, it was a treat for us. I was thankful for every beer i got,
i never once walked into a house and demanded beer.
sooo, work out your tude kiddos. or back the F off and get the F out of the ghetto.
i don't want froshies walking around with tudes thinking they are hot shit...when really...kids..you still have 2-3 years before u can buy beer..so shut up, lose the tude, and show respect.
you have to show respect...to get respect. so show it, or get out.
peace,
carl winslow
